The latest Young Friends of Castle Meadows activities involved Year 5 and Year 4 pupils from Llanfoist School who enjoyed, respectively, full morning and afternoon Orienteering sessions across the site.
The Young Friends from Llanfoist roamed the full area developing their map reading skills in search of scattered, concealed pictorial and riddle clue cards which featured the flora and fauna to be found on the meadows and along the riverbank.
The visits were then followed up by some highly enjoyable Castle Meadows themed art activity sessions at the school led by Mark Langley from Monmouthshire Countryside Services along with Friends of Castle Meadows volunteers. Some outstanding art work was produced by the pupils and this will feature at a number of public venues in the lead up to the National Eisteddfod.
